PRINCIPALS ANNUAL REPORT 2017-18

With the remembrance of Sutturu Guruparampare, my humble pranaam goes to lotus feet of his Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamigalavaru, Jagadguru Sri Veerasihmasana Mahasamstana Math, Sutturu Srikshetra.

Dear parents, staff, students and well wishers of JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali.

Each year, we pack as much of the range of the school activities as possible to exhibit the hidden talent and skills with which our students (your children) are so abundantly blessed. The purpose of this annual report is to attempt to capture and record the multitude of activities and events of the past year. Parents express the vitality, colour and diversity and sheer brilliance of JSS Public School tribute to you their parents and to the wonderful, dedicated service given by JSS staff. It is a humbling privilege to serve here at JSS Public School.

Management:

The management of the School is in the able hands of JSS Mahavidyapeetha head quarter situated at Mysore. The President of the JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Jagadguru Sri. Sri. Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji has been guiding light to us in all respect. And also the source of success for all those associated with the Vidyapeetha. Let me take this opportunity to thank, His Holiness Swamiji, also my sincere thanks goes to the Executive Secretary Dr. Betsurmath, Sri S.P.Manjunath, Secretary-1, the Director of the public schools division Mr. Shivanadamurthy and the other officers of the management for their help, and support during this year.

Enrolment:

The school was reopened for this academic year on 26th May 2017 with the total strength of 708 students. We will close the academic year with the total strength of 664 students, since 44 students of class X are going to leave us after completing 10th board examination which will be held in the month of March – 2018.

Students Achievements

Once again JSS Students have excelled in many areas.

Academics and results:

There are often concerns by parents and staff that students are so busy with extra-curricular activities that their studies are compromised. That is legitimate concern, but we continue to be impressed with overall external exam results.

Individual Achievements-

Toppers in the AISSE in March 2017 are Navale Pavan, Mohammed Sameer, Karthik Chajed and Prajwal NK secured 10 CGPA points.33 students of class 10th appeared for the All India Secondary Schools Examination (AISSE), 20 students have scored 9 to 10 CGPA points. Congratulations for these students and the teachers who taught them.

School life

Student leaders:

The 20 prefects have provided fine leadership in many areas of school life- assemblies and public functions etc. They have been a strong support to me. The school captain Miss. Shreya K. of class X has done a sterling job in providing fine leadership to the school council.

The vice captain of our school Master. Saikhetan of class X, sports captain Ajay, sports vice-captain Shashank C and other House captains and vice-captains of all four houses were administered oath by Dr.Chandrakantha S.Kalibhavi Agronomy officer, Huvinahadagali. In a very impressive investiture ceremony held on 26th July 2017. I am grateful to prefects for the leadership they provided me in many areas.

Facilities and Maintenance:

We are grateful to Govt. of Karnataka, District Administration and Taluk Administration for sanctioning us, a drinking water unit, bus shelter, check-dam and internet facilities (Optic fiber cable) for our campus. My sincere thanks goes to management for sanctioning around Rs18 lakh for various construction works like multi-purpose hall, renovation of school building and etc.

Teacher’s Workshop:

Teacher training programme was organized by JSS Mahavidyapeetha, at Suttur in Mysore District from 24-04-2016 to 27-04-2016. The following teachers participated in the training programme.

2) Mr. Manjunath Hiremath, Kannada Teacher

3) Mrs. Uma KM, Kannada teacher

4) Mr. Kumar AM, Science teacher

Co-Curricular and Extra Curricular activities:

As has been the case in the past activities form an integral part of life here at JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali. A number of Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities have been organized during the course of the academic year.

* ‘World Environment Day’ was celebrated on 8th of June 2017 in our campus with the collaboration of JCI Hvinahadagali, more than 1000 saplings were planted in the campus. Mr. Mahabaleshwar

Ex-president JCI, Hadagali was the chief guest of the occasion and he has inspired the students to work collectively for the protection of the earth and emphasized on the need to build a greener world. I am grateful to our parents for supporting me to convert a green campus.

* The 3rdInternational ‘YOGA’ day was celebrated on 21st of June 2017 with the collaboration of ‘Patanjali Yoga Samiti’ and taluk administration Huvinahadagali. Sri. Raghavendra Rao, Tahasildhar was the chief guest of the occasion. Around 800 students from public school and B.Ed College participated in yoga day.

* As a duty of each and every Indian and to create patriotic feelings among the students the 71st Independence was grandly celebrated in our JSS institution campus on 15th August 2017. In this historical event Dr. Mallikarjun Gouda, Rtd Medical officer, Huvinahadagali hoisted our tri-colour flag, at the same time JSS B.Ed college principal, staff and trainees were accompanied with us. The house wise march-past was demonstrated salutation before the chief guest.

* On 1st November 2017, Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm by paying homage to the portrait of mother Bhuvaneshwaridevi. Anjana Krishnappa the Rtd. Teacher spoke about the significance of Kannada Rajyotsava.

* Kanakadasa Jayanthi was celebrated on 4-11-2017 in our school campus. Std VIII children performed a skit based on life history of Kanakadasa.

* Tippu Sultan is known as Tiger of Mysore one of the greatest freedom fighter in pre-independence India. The Tippu Sultan Jayanthi on 10-11-2017 in our school premises. Grade IX students displayed postures to show the life history and achievement of the great warrior.

* We were all children ones. Childrens day was celebrated on 14 November 2017in our school to pay the tribute to the first prime minister of our country Pandith Jawaharalal Nehru. We had series of cultural programme presented by children as well as staff on the occasion.

* On November 11th, with the statement of education as a power, courage, and compassion with true determination we celebrated National Education Day in our school. In order to commemorate great soul Sir Moulana Abul Kalam Ajad who contributed much more to India’s education system.

* Geetha Jayanthi is an annual celebration to commemorate the day when Lord Krishna rendered his philosophical teachings –immortalized in the epic Mahabharatha to prince Arjuna on the first day of 18 day battle of Kurukshetra. With collaboration of the Ethics Foundation of Bangalore, Geetha Jayanthi was celebrated on 21-12-2017 in our school. More than 21 groups took part in Sloka chanting competition and pouranic dress competition and they have won several prizes.

* ‘The Inter House Annual Athletic Meet’ was held on 23-12-2017 in our school play ground. Children took part in various track and field events organized by sports department. Tunga Bhadra house emerged as cock house for the academic year 2017-18 in sports segment. The overall trophy in cultural segment has won by Cauvery house.

* On account of Suttur Jatra festival cultural programmes were organized by JSS MVP at Suttur on 17-1-2018. A group of children belong to class VIII and IX took part in group dance and secured second place and in group singing STD IX and X children were placed 5th out of 17 public school run by JSS Mahavidyapeetha. Congratulation for all the prize winners.

* A brief report of cultural events*

* Drawing and coloring competition was held on 21-06-2017 for the classes from STD I to IV.

* Solo singing competition for classes Pre-KG STD IV was held on 27-06-2017 and it was adjudged by our music teacher Mr. Ravi Yallappanavar.

* English, Hindi and Kannada hand writing competition for the classes from STD I to IV was held on 7-7-2017.

* Story telling competition for the classes Pre-KG to STD IV was held on 27-7-2017 and it was adjudged by our English teachers.

* Inter House Kannada debate competition for classes V to IX was held on 22-7-2017 in our school and it was judged by Mr. Sheshagiri Rao, of Huvinahadagali and Mr. H Basavaraj Asst professor in Kannada, Govt. first grade college, Huvinahadagali.

* A fancy dress competition was organized on 7-8-2017 for the classes Pre-KG to STD IV. It was judged by Adda Ramesh a film artist of Huvinahadagali.

* Clay modeling competition was held on 30-08-2017 for the classes from STD I to IV. Dr. B Virupakshappa and Dr. Ashok Edigar were the judges for the competition.

* Inter House Hindi debate competition was held on 6-9-2017 and the same was judged by MR. Khadar Basha Asst. Hindi Teacher, Govt. High School, Mirakoranahalli and Mr. K.Veersh Asst. Hindi teacher Govt. High school, Sogi.

* 102nd Jayanthi celebration of his holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahashwamigalavaru was held on 12-10-2017 on Thursday in our institution. It was inaugurated by Dr. Sri Hiri Shantha Veera Mahaswamigalu, Gavi Siddeshwara Shakha Math Huvinahadagali, the programme was presided by Sri Channabasava Mahaswamigalavaru, Sri. Channabasaveshwara Virakth Math, Hire Mallanakeri. Sri Somashankara Devaru, Shaka Gavi Math, Kadlebaalu, Hire Baganala was present in the occasion and also gave Ashirvachana. The maha prasadam was distributed to thousands of parents, students and devotees of Huvinahadagaki at the end of the programme.

* Inter House English debate competition was held on 21-11-2017 in our school premises for the classes V to IX. Mr. Parameshwaraiah,YM Asst. English teacher, AMP High school, Holagundi and Mr.Ganesh Panchal, Asst English Teacher, Govt. High School, Upanayakanahalli were the judges for the occasion.

* Two of our students namely Master Vinay Manoj of class X and Roopa. L of Class X participated in a quiz competition on Petroleum conversation organized by petroleum ministry Govt. of India and they have cleared district level quiz and were qualified for state level quiz competition.

Conclusion:

My sincere thanks goes to my management, staff and parents of JSS public school, Huvinahadagali for their continues support rendered to me in the past to transform this institution to a higher level, in both academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. I expect the same kind of co-operation in future endeavour.
