Activities

With a view to create opportunities, tap talents and develop in students a sense of responsibility and confidence, co-curricular activities are conducted in the school on a regular basis.

Block Building competition was held on 22/06/2023 in JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali premises for the classes Pre-Kg to STD III. Children brought colorful blocks of different size. They competed by constructing structures by interlocking plastic blocks and other provided materials. Children made beautiful models like House with garden, Big Towers, Trains, Robots, bridge etc. using their own creativity. This competition helped them in improving concentration and fine motor skills.

To celebrate the joy of colours we have a colour day every month and the colour of this month was Red. Our Pre-primary facilitators conducted ‘Red Day’ on 09th August 2023 to introduce kids into the mesmerizing realm of colours. Red, the colour of blood and fire, is associated with meanings of love, sensitivity, joy, strength, leadership and determination. It symbolizes action, confidence, and courage.The tiny tots looked stunning in their red outfits. The shades of red made the Kids feel bright, lively and cheerful. The day started off with the colour red everywhere.

Extempore is one such method which assists the students not only in thinking on their own but also in voicing their creative ideas with precision. JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali always thrives to cater to the all-round development of their students. The main focus of the school has always been on improving the Soft Skills amongst the students. With this intention in mind Extempore Competition was held for the students of STD VI to IX on 10 August 2023. The objective of the competition was to make the students confident and better orators so that they can fearlessly express their views on any topic. Extempore is an excellent way to assist the students not only in spontaneous thinking but also in asserting their creative ideas with precision.

Children are the most precious treasure of any country. They are the hope for our future. On 14th November 2023 the teachers ensured that they made the day very special for their dear students by presenting various exciting performances such as group melody songs, dance, drama, and etc presented a stupendous show.

The celebrations began with the teachers reciting the prayer song sung by Mr. Manjunath M Hiremath, Kannada teacher of our school. The highlight of the day was the scintillating dance performances by the teachers and various jokes were cracked. The teachers showcased their talent by dancing on the peppy songs which also made the students to groove in. The students were in awe to see their teachers in this fun and exciting new avatar.

It was a fun filled day for the Suncitizens which would always be cherished as a fond memory.

The Constitution Day was celebrated in our school on 26th November, 2023 to create awareness on the Indian Constitution. The programme commenced with a prayer service, praying for our country, its leaders and all the citizens. The significance of the day was given by the school principal, Mr. N Guruswamy through a paper presentation, followed by a cultural programme highlighting the preamble of our preamble of our constitution, the major principles of our constitution

 

The Constitution Day was celebrated in our school on 26th November, 2023 to create awareness on the Indian Constitution. The programme commenced with a Prayer Service, praying for our country, its leaders and all the citizens. The significance of the day was given by the school principal, Mr. N Guruswamy through a paper presentation, followed by a cultural programme highlighting the Preamble of our Constitution, the major principles of our Constitution and the need to preserve the National Integrity of our country. The Oath was administered by the principal. As a mark of respect, a fitting tribute was paid to Dr B R Ambedkar, who played a pivotal role in drafting the Constitution. The auspicious day concluded with the singing of National Anthem.The programme culminated with a sense of patriotism and an awareness to abide by the Constitution of our Nation.

Grandparents are a family’s greatest treasure, the founders of a loving legacy, the greatest storytellers, the keepers of traditions. Grandparents are the family’s strong foundation. Through their special love and care, grandparents keep a family close at heart. To honour them JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali celebrated Grandparents Day on 17th December 2023 for Pre-Kg to UKG classes. The function started with welcoming the grandparents.
Principal, Mr. N Guruswamy addressed on the occasion and ignited the school children to respect the parents as well as their grandparents. The School Staff also interacted on a one-to-one basis with the guests, during the high tea arranged for them. The general mood was one of exultation and everyone seemed truly happy.
It was a successful event indeed, and the School as always would be pleased to organize many such more events.

On the 23rd December 2023, JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali hosted its 14th Annual Sports Meet for the students belonging to classes Pre-Kg to STD X. A day filled with fervor and excitement experienced amidst thrills, shrills and cheers. School principal, Mr. N Guruswamy inaugurated the meet. The day started off with the lovely rendition by the choir to pay salutations to the Lord Almighty followed by the Inter-House March Past, a highly competitive event where the four houses eyed for the first place. The audience next witnessed various displays symbolizing alternative sources of energy. The displays made way for the highly awaited athletic events where competitiveness among the students soared through the roof. Another highlight of the day was the lighting of the Presidency Torch which was carried by the school principal, Mr. N Guruswamy. At the end of the day, students departed with a clear smile on their faces as the Krishna House emerged as House Champions. It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish. The principal of this esteemed institution thanked all the teachers for their cooperation and support and advised children to keep up their sportsman spirit.

Elocution & Extempore competition was conducted on 23 June 2023 for the classes I to V. Prelims for the same was conducted in the class. Students were asked to pick a topic. The topics in the competition varied. Every participant was given precisely 1 minute to prepare the speech on selected topic. It was indeed astounding to see how beautifully students had put their thoughts, insights, humor and delivered the speech of consciousness which was fluent , erudite and articulate while being unscripted. Students from Grade VI – IX took part in it. The parameter for the judgment was content, fluency, confidence and presentation. The finalists’ displayed oratory skill with zeal and enthusiasm. The competition was culminated with a few words of encouragement by judges and principal.

JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali organized an Inter house “Solo Singing competition” for the classes Pre-Kg to STD IX on 30 June 2023 which was judged by Music teacher Miss. Aruna Soppin.

It was a theme based competition, where the students earnestly participated and sang Hindi Patriotic songs, old melodies and Bhajans. The competition presented variety of songs. All the young maestros who took part in the competition made it a great success. All of them sang to their best. The winners were well appreciated by the Judges.

 

 

The primary section of JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali conducted craft and Origami activity on 20 July 2023, for the classes VI to IX. This was judged by Mr. Mariyappa Byadagi, art teacher. Children participated in this creative venture with great zeal and spirit.

Tiny tots were amazed to see transformation of a flat sheet, square of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting budding stars created unique and exclusive shapes and structures to showcase their fineness in paper craft. They made houses, fan, fish, flower, boat, butterfly, dog, bird etc. and displayed item with great pleasure and gratification.

This activity triggered their imagination and enhanced their creative skills. Origami provided our little ones with wonderful “Schematic learning through repeatable actions.”

In order to make children aware of uses of waste materials and to give them a lesson on reducing waste to save our future, best out of waste competition was organized for students of classes VI to X on 17 July 2023.

Mind-blowing, beyond expectation, fantabulous ideas were demonstrated by students. Right form waste ropes to broken bangles, plastic bangles, waste nails to broken handles, every waste material was used and the result was a hall full of projects made out of waste.

The jury, Mr. Mariyappa Byadagi, Art teacher was amazed to see the models working and non working, made by children.

JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali always encourages its students to display their hidden talent through various co-curricular activities be it online or offline. The school provided a platform to the students of grade VIII and IX with a collage-making activity on 20 July 2023.All the participants spent the next hour using old newspapers, magazines, other waste materials, scissors and glue to create interesting displays as per their theme. The winners of the competition were judged by the in-charge teachers on the basis of their creativity and overall presentation. The students enjoyed the competition very much. The aim of this competition was to enrich student’s experience in pictorial composition through handling new materials.

“Handwriting is the mirror of knowledge.”

JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali had organized Handwriting Competition on 21 July 2023 for the classes I-V, in their respective classrooms. Students participated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. The objective of this competition was to motivate students to enhance their writing skills. The judging criteria set by the principal were clarity, neatness, legibility and cursive.

School communities need to go beyond, make the next step and start to really cultivate and encourage skills for the next century. Our teachers and students need to belong into a learning community, sharing ideas, moving forward, being empowered.

The activity “English Debate Competition” started as a school activity within framework of English language. In order to cultivate students’ communication skills, the activity was enthusiastically embraced from teachers and students and was evolved from within. The activity brings greater advantages for students in various aspect of education. Debate is a contest between grade V to IX and the topics for the year 2023, for grade VIII & IX senior category on 22 July 2023, related to scientific issues that influence our everyday life. The debate competition is not only about competition itself but an educational extended activity that includes familiarization with scientific issues, issues of ethics, law, politics and science cooperating with classmates, developing the ability of analysis and synthesize data and information to form arguments and take positions familiarizing self with exposure to audience, compete and take action in the local community proposing for a better world. The Judges for the competition were Mr. Ramesh S R, MMP Ist Grade College and Annadanappa S C, GBR College, Huvinahadagali.

Reading aloud is the foundation for literacy development. It is the single most important activity for reading success in children.

To sow the seeds of reading habits and to make our student’s lifetime reader’s classroom libraries and reading corners are made by students in primary classes. To inspire students by showing them the positive effects of reading. ‘Read Aloud’ competition was held in our school premises on 10 August 2023, for the classes STD I to III. The discussions, efforts and time they spent reading with their peer group helped them gain a desire to read for pure pleasure.

Our young readers became familiar with the phrasing, expression and flow of sentences in stories or texts.

Young minds can think new and big, through playing, the task becomes quite easy, exciting and long lasting. It is absolutely safe and non toxic. Clay modeling competition was held on 11 August 2023 for the classes Pre-Kg to STD V. This competition was the perfect platform for the creative minds of the children to meet their colorful desires and fantasy needs. They made their own beautiful sun, snake shapes, flowers, swam, etc. and displayed them with pride. The motive of this competition was to stimulate the imagination of the children and enable them to give it a better shape. This enhanced their eye-hand coordination, color recognition, fine motor skills and problem solving skills.

The tiny tots of JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali set the stage on fire with their innocent faces and vibrant performances while participating in a Solo Dance Competition held on 06 September 2023 for the classes STD IV to X. The children performed a variety of dances to folk songs, classical songs and various language songs.

The proud parents were called onto the stage to be with their children after the performances for group photos along with the school principal.

“Poetry is simply the most beautiful, impressive, and widely effective mode of saying things.”

Poetry Recitation Competition was organized on 11 August 2023 for the classes Pre-Kg to STD V, in JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali premises. Beauty is the realm of poetry; the students of our school enthusiastically participated in the competition as they got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence. The competition inspired the young poets to come forward and recite on stage. The students came up with different poems on the themes and recited them with great fondness and zeal for the country. They enjoyed the perfection of expression, thoughts, emotions, rhythm.

Brain Boosting memory games for kids are as important for growing brains as crossword puzzles are for aging ones.

Think about it, growing brains are working hard. They have a lot of new pathways to create, a lot of emotions to manage and new experiences to make sense of.

Memory game competition was conducted for classes Pre-Kg to STD V, which was held on 25 August 2023. It was judged by respective class teachers.

‘Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time’

Art connects what words cannot” keeping the same ideal at the forefront, Pencil sketch competition was conducted on 25 August 2023 for the students belonging to STD VI to IX. Students displayed their creativity through these events and the day was indeed a success and added feather in the cap of our school.

“I don’t say everything, but I paint everything.” Pablo Picasso JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali always encourages student’s participation in competition for their holistic development. Drawing and Painting Competition was conducted on 25 August 2023, for Classes STD I to V. The aim for this completion was to develop the creativity in students. It was a successful event and students were very happy and enjoyed drawing and painting the pictures. The judge for the competition was Mr. Mariyappa Byadagi Art teacher. JSS Public School continues to add feathers to its cap of achievements with such talented Students and continues to support their growth.

Hindi serves as an invaluable language link in India. The importance of the language is essential to every aspect and interaction in our everyday lives. It is a very expressive language. In poetry and songs, it can convey emotions using simple and gentle words. It can also be used for exact and rational reasoning. To enhance the public speaking and oratory skill of the students, an Inter House Hindi Debate Competition was organized for the students belonging to classes STD V to IX at JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali premises on 26 August 2023. The Judges for the competition were Mr. Khadar Basha and Mr. P S Meti.

On 5th September 2023 we expressed our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated mentors who have shaped our lives and helped us become who we are today. To make this Teacher’s Day unique and memorable, this year, we decided to put a twist on the usual celebration.
