A REPORT: 110th Jayanthi Mahotsava of
His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamigalavaru
Date: September 20, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM
Venue: JSS Educational Institutions Campus, Huvinahadagali
Organizers: JSS Public School & JSS B.Ed. College, Huvinahadagali
Introduction: ‘A Legacy of Light’
The 110th Birth Anniversary of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, the visionary founder of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, was celebrated with profound spiritual grandeur and community spirit. The event served as a tribute to a soul whose life was a testament to the philosophy of “Service to Humanity is Service to God.”
Inaugural Ceremony and Spiritual Discourse:
The celebrations commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by His Holiness Sri Hirishanthaveera Swamiji, Seer of the Sri Gavisissheshwara Shakha Math. In an evocative discourse, the Seer highlighted the Swamiji’s dual mission of Anna (Food) and Akshara (Education).
“The late Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji was a saint who held the Linga in his left hand for spiritual strength and offered food with his right hand for social sustenance,” the Seer remarked. He emphasized that the Swamiji broke the barriers of caste and creed, ensuring that the light of knowledge reached the humblest of rural homes. Following the discourse, a solemn oath was administered to the students and staff, inspiring them to uphold the values of the institution.
Leadership and Testimonials:
The event was presided over by Shri Anchi Dadarappa, President of Holagundi Gram Panchayat. He described the Swamiji as a “Living Light” (Daari Deepa) whose footsteps continue to guide society through turbulent times.
A poignant moment occurred when Shri N. Guruswamy, principal, JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali, shared his personal journey. He recalled how he, like lakhs of other rural children, was able to complete his higher education only because of the free hostel facilities provided by the Swamiji in Mysore. His testimony brought to life the quote: “Education is the movement from darkness to light,” a movement catalyzed by the JSS movement.
Cultural and Procedural Highlights:
The program was enriched by the following contributions:
Invocation: A soulful prayer by the students of JSS Public School.
Welcome Address: Delivered with warmth by Dr. Ashok Edigar, Assistant Professor.
Coordination: The event was seamlessly anchored by Shri Manjunath M. Hiremath, TGT in Kannada.
Vote of Thanks was proposed by Bhumika K, a student-teacher, expressing gratitude to the community.
Mahaprasada: The Grand Dasoha
The celebration reached its crescendo with a grand Mahamangalarathi, followed by the distribution of Mahaprasada. True to the tradition of the Suttur Math, nearly 2,000 people—including parents, devotees, and students—partook in a nourishing meal of wheat payasam, palya, and rice-sambar.
The logistics reflected the Swamiji’s principles of discipline and dignity:
Organized Distribution: 10 dedicated counters were managed to ensure a smooth flow for men, women, and students.
Nurturing the Young: In a touching gesture of care, children from Pre-KG to Class 4 were served in the comfort of their classrooms.
Conclusion
The 110th Jayanthi Mahotsava was more than a ceremony; it was a reaffirmation of the “Kayakave Kailasa” (Work is Worship) ideology. The event left an indelible mark on the hearts of all present, inspiring a new generation to live for the welfare of others, just as the great Seer did.
