These celebrations bring the students closer to each other’s tradition and cultural beliefs and develop respect and understanding for each other’s customs and traditions. A REPORT ON THE 79th INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION-2025

 

The 79th Independence Day was celebrated at JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali with unparalleled zeal, patriotic fervor, and a sense of pride that touched every heart. The school wore a festive look with tricolor decorations, fluttering flags, and vibrant floral arrangements — symbolizing the unity and diversity of our great nation.

As the nation is making giant strides towards realising the Government’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, the theme of this year’s celebrations is “Naya Bharat”.

The programme began with the warm reception of the Chief Guest, Sri Shankrappa Shivappa Haradanahalli, Retired Nayak , Indian Army by Mr N Guruswamy, principal, JSS Public School Huvinahadagali and Dr H P Ramesh, principal, JSS B Ed College, Huvinahadagali with a soothing invocation song sung by the school choir.

Welcome speech was administered by Mr Puneet Kumar, B Ed teacher trainee. Mr Naveenkumar T, physical education teacher accompanied chief guest, Mr. Shankarappa Shivappa Harapanahalli along with Mr. N Guruswamy and Dr. H P Ramesh, to pay homage to the portrait of national leaders, Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B R Ambedkar. The hoisting of the National flag done by Mr Shankarappa, chief guest. Students of various houses displayed March-past and Salutation to the National Flag and to the dignitaries present on this occasion. A mesmerizing patriotic song was sung by Miss Kanakadurga and team of STD VIII. Speeches were delivered by the students in various languages like; Speech in English by Miss. Tanushree S of grade IX, Speech in Hindi language was delivered by Miss. Apeksha S M from grade IX and speech in Kannada language was delivered by Miss. Khushi T of grade IX. Master Kirangouda C gave a speech on the occasion and explained in detail about the freedom struggle of India. Patriotic song (Swatantrada Hanate) was sung by STD V students. Group dance with the theme ‘Operation Sindhoor’ was performed by STD VI and VII students. Chief Guest addressed the gathering and recalled the great sacrifices of great freedom fighters who laid their lives for nation. He also shared his experiences during his service in Indian Army and the difficult situations faced by him. Sri Shankrappa Shivappa Haradanahalli urged about a sense of patriotism to be inculcated among the students as they are the future of India.

Mr N Guruswamy, Principal addressed the gathering and recalled about how the foreign Invaders like British, Portuguese, Dutch, French and East India Company reached India as a trading company and slowly acquired the territories and ruled India for more than 200 years. The principal also elaborated the prosperity of India and gave examples of Vijayanagar kingdom where pearl and diamond were sold in the markets like vegetables.

The meaningful program ended with the vote of thanks administered by Miss Rushmitha N of grade IX. The entire programme was anchored by Miss. Bhoomika, teacher trainee, JSS B Ed College, Huvinahadagali. Sweets were distributed to the students and staff of both the institutions. All the teaching and non-teaching staff of JSS Institutions and parents community witnessed the program.

A Report on 16th Annual Day Celebration-2025

JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali celebrated its 16th Annual Day on the 25th January, 2025 in school premises with the Divine Blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana Math, Suttur Srikshetra. This is considered one of the biggest functions in our school for the whole academic year.

The programme was inaugurated by Sri Krishna Niak L, MLA, Huvina Hadagali and Mr.Dhanraj A the president of Grama Panchayath,Holagundi, along with Mr. N Guruswamy, principal, JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali. The programme began with the invocation song sung by the school choir. Master Nikhil L, School Captain of STD X, welcomed the dignitaries on and off the dais. Mr. N Guruswamy, principal, JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali presented the school annual report and briefed about the activities conducted during the A.Y, 2024-25.

Guest of Honour, Sri Dhanraj A addressed the gathering and spoke about the responsibilities of the parent’s community for the all-round development of the children in the present scenario. The chief guest Sri Krishnanaik L, MLA, Huvinahadagali constituency distributed the Prizes to the winners of various competitions. Cauvery house emerged as champion house in cultural events and Krishna house was the cock house in 16th Annual school Athletic meet A.Y, 2024-25.

Sri Krishnanaik L, addressed the gathering and stressed on importance of education in today’s world. He also quoted that it is the education that shapes ones future. He recalled the contributions given by His Holiness Swamiji to the field of education and also suggested the parents of Huvinahadagali to make best use of this opportunity to educate children in such reputed school.

Cultural programme began with the wonderful dance presented by the tiny tots i.e. LKG children and so on and so forth. The children belong to UKG to STD IX performed the dances for various folk songs. The centre of attraction was the skit of “Mahabharatha” performed by the STD VIII students. The formal programme was concluded with the vote of thanks presented by Master Bharatesh Undadi, School Vice-Captain of STD X, followed by National Anthem. More than 3 thousand people who include parents, students and public witnessed the entire programme. Prior to this Annual Day Celebration Awards Day was celebrated on 24-01-2025, Friday,around 450 prizes were distributed the students belonging from Pre-KG to STD X.

Kannada Rajyotsava is a special occasion for all Kannadigas, who celebrate the day with great pomp and fervour. The day marks the statehood of Karnataka, also known as Karnataka Foundation Day, Kannada Rajyotsava instills deep reverence and pride among all Kannadigas, as it also celebrates the state’s various achievements since its formation.

On November 1, 1956, all Kannada-speaking territories in South India were united to form Karnataka when states were reorganized on a linguistic basis. Since then, this day has been dedicated to statehood and is celebrated annually. On this day, the Rajyotsava Awards, Karnataka’s second-highest civilian honours, are presented by the Karnataka Government to recognize outstanding contributions in various fields. The anniversary of Karnataka’s establishment is integral to all Kannadigas, as it celebrates the state’s unique identity and vibrant culture.

This year marks the 69th Karnataka Rajyotsava Day-the Karnataka Celebration-50. The term ‘Karnataka Celebration-50’ commemorates the 50 years of state’s formation and this significant anniversary was celebrated with much fanfare.

 

JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava with great enthusiasm at school premises by the principal, Mr.N Guruswamy, JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali and Dr. H P Ramesh, principal, JSS B Ed College, Huvinahadagali,  teaching and non-teaching staff and students on the bright sunny morning of 1st November, 2024. The Program commenced with  puja ceremony to the portrait of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari by Mr.N Guruswamy, Principal of JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali and Dr. H P Ramesh, principal JSS B Ed college, Huvinahadagali, Mr.Manjunath M Hiremath, Kannada teacher, followed by prayer song by the School choir and hoisting of the Tri colour flag. The formal function began with the welcome speech by Miss Prathiba, B Ed teacher trainee. Later, Miss Srushti K read the anecdotes on the significance of the day. Junior and senior choir group sang a melodious song that praised goddess Bhuvaneshwari i.e junior choir group (Vishwa Vinutana Vidya Chetana) and seniors choir group (Jogada Siri Belakinalli). Then, Mr. N Guruswamy,principal, JSS Public School addressed the gathering and recalled the condition of the Kannadigas in Karnataka, the challenges faced by Kannadigas in regions of Hyderabad where access to Kannada newspaper is limited. He also mentioned about how he faced difficulty for getting even a single Kannada newspaper in the entire Ooty and nearby regions. Then, students showcased their talent and expressed their love for their beloved state, Karnataka by enthusiastically participating in a gala celebration by dancing to mesmerizing songs.

Finally the significant ceremony summed up with the vote of thanks by Mr. Hubballi Veeranna, B Ed teacher trainee. The entire program was anchored by Miss Sanidhya U M and Miss Ananya M of grade X. Sweets were distributed to all the people present on this auspicious occasion.

International Yoga Day – 2025

JSS Institutions, Huvinahadagali celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day on 21st June 2025, Saturday with the collaboration of Patanjali Yoga Charitable Trust, Huvinahadagali.

The programme began with the melodious invocation song sung by the school choir followed by welcoming the guests and other dignitaries’ present on this occasion by Ms. R G Lata, teacher trainee JSS B Ed College, Huvinahadagali. The programme was presided by Mr. N Guruswamy, Principal, JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Deepak R Bhoosareddy, Circle inspector, Huvinahadagali in the absentia of Mr. Krishna Naik, MLA, Huvinahadagali constituency along with other dignitaries present on the dias by watering the sapling. Dr. Lakshman Naik, President, Patanjali Yoga Charitable Trust, Huvinahadagali in his introductory speech addressed the gathering and shared his views on the importance of yogasanas and contribution of honorable prime minister Sri Narendra Modiji in making it reach throughout the world since 2014. He gave a call to inculcate practice of yoga at least an hour a day. Mr. Deepak R Bhoosareddy in his inaugural speech threw a light on physical, mental and spiritual health with the help of yoga. He also stressed on improvement and consistency in practice in yoga in our in our lives. Mr. N Guruswamy in his presidential speech recalled his school days and practice of yoga in his childhood. The principal also stressed on practicing of yoga should not be only for a day rather than for the rest of the life. He gave example of Finland became the happiest country in the world improved food habits and lifestyle. The principal also stated that “Wealth can be earned anytime but not the Health.” Dr. H P Ramesh, Mr. K Nagesh, the vice president, Patanjali Yoga Charitable Trust, Mr, Malatesh, treasurer Smt. Indumati Nayak, Chairman, women Patanjali Yoga Charitable Trust were present on the occasion. Demonstration of different Yogasanas was carried by Dr. Lakshman Naik and his team. The students of classes I to X, B.Ed teacher trainees performed different Asanas under the guidance of yoga trainers.  The programme concluded by vote of thanks by Mr. Shivanandaiah, teacher trainee. A REPORT ON 108th JAYANTHI CELEBRATION OF HIS HOLINESS SRI.SHIVARATHRI RAJENDRA MAHASWAMIGALAVARU 

108th Jayanthi Mahotsav of Paramapujya Jagadguru Dr Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji was held at JSS Institutions Huvinahadagali on 23rd, September-2023. The programme began at 10.30AM with a melodious invocation song sung by Public School Choir. Program was inaugurated by Mr. Nandihalli Halappa, ex-MLA of Huvinahadagali, by lighting a Jyoti. In his opening speech, he remembered the unique contributions made by Basavadisharans to the society. He praised the merit of Suttur Mutt initiating an educational institution in our area, emphasizing our duty to preserve and develop it. He suggested that parents of this area should utilize this educational institution effectively. Pledge of Allegiance was taught to the staff and students by the presiding officer of the program Dr. Sri Shantaveera Mahaswamy of the Gavi Math who presided over the program and preached along with his blessings to both the principals, teaching staff, lecturers and students of JSS Public School and B.Ed College, Huvinahadagali.

In the program, retired Shri. Chandrasekhar Shastri, Professor of Vijayanagara College, Hospet, gave a lecture on Parampujya Lingaikya Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivratri Rajendra Mahaswamy. Sir described the growth of Suttur Math and the background of His Holiness Swamiji Sri Rajendra Mahaswamigalavaru and he celebrated the legacy of Sri Math. Following secular stances, he imparted knowledge to Akshara Dasohas by starting free Prasada Nilayams for students. He also praised the educational institution he founded, is doing social service through his own activities, by establishing educational institutions from rural areas to national and international level through three types of dasohas namely shikshana dasoha, anna dasoha and Arogya dasoha. JSS Mahavidyapeetha was established as a precursor to this great work. Mahavidyapeetha today with the blessings of Lingayikya Jagadguru, under the leadership of the present president, His Holiness Shri Shivratri Deshikendra Mahaswamigalavaru, has grown into an immense institution with more than one lakh students studying in more than 350 different educational institutions and more than ten thousand employees.

Mrs. M P Suma Vijay, president of Rangabharati, Huvinahadagali, presided over the program. Mrs. Netravathi, president of Gram Panchayat of Holgundi Village, Principals of the organization Mr. N. Guruswamy and Mr. H P Ramesh graced the occasion.

The dignitaries distributed merit prizes to the students who secured the highest marks in the annual examinations of the     B Ed College and Public School Division held last year.

Around 1000 people participated in the program including parents, invitees, devotees of Shrimath and students of two institutes, Mahaprasad arrangement was made for about 1500-2000 people. In Mahaprasad, Godi Payasa, Aubergine Palye, Pickles and Rice Sambar were prepared. Prasadam was very neatly and systematically served to parents and class section through 4 counters for women, 4 counters for men and two counters separately for students and for the students from Pre KG to  STD IV, Prasada  was served in their respective classes.

Report on Gandhiji and Shastriji’s Jayanti -2024

“Strength does not come from winning. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.”

Gandhi Jayanti is a day for remembrance of the values that Mahatma Gandhi represented truth, non-violence, simplicity, and self-reliance. His idea of passive resistance and belief in the strength of truth and non-violence-Ahimsa are as relevant to the present times. Conflicts and violence appear to characterize human affairs in much of the world. His message of universal peace and tolerance has been recognized worldwide. That is why, in 2007, the United Nations declared that October 2 would be considered as the International Day of Non-Violence.

Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second Prime Minister of India, is fondly remembered for his simplicity, humility, and dedication to the nation. His contribution to India, especially during critical times like the Indo-Pak War of 1965, and his famous slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” still resonate in the hearts of millions. Every year, his birth anniversary is celebrated across the country to honour his legacy and leadership.

On the 2nd October, India celebrates not one but two great leaders who left an indelible mark on the nation’s history. While the world observes Gandhi Jayanti on this day. It is also an occasion to commemorate the birth anniversary of another remarkable leader, Lal Bahadur Shastri.

The auspicious occasion was presided by the Principal Mr. N Guruswamy and the school teaching and non teaching staff. The students of Grades VI to X exuberantly participated in the event.

JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali celebrated Bapuji’s and Shastriji’s birthday in school premises on 2nd October 2024, with great zeal and enthusiasm.The program began with the prayer song sung by Ms. Sangeetha A H M. This was followed by homage to Gandhiji’s and Shastriji’s portrait. Children shared anecdotes, like Smitha K of STD VIII in English language followed by Miss Sinchana H of STD IX and Inchara C M of STD VIII in Hindi language from Gandhiji’s and Shastriji’s life and Master Pranav M Hiremath of STD IV and Mahalakshmi K of STD X in Kannada language about various contributions made by them to India’s freedom struggle. The highlight of the program was a song glorifying Gandhiji and how he heralded a new era for our country. The assembly wound up with a medley of Bapu’s favourite songs such as Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram by Miss. Sangeetha A H M, Music teacher, Mrs. Roopa K M, NST teacher along with Mr. Manjunath M Hiremath, Kannada teacher.

Thus the children were given a deep insight into the life and times of Mahatama and Shastriji that encouraged thinking about the sacrifice of our freedom fighters, analyze the importance and understanding the value of freedom, through the day’s activities.

Investiture means a formal investing of a person with authority, power, right and dignity. The ceremony was to badge the leaders of academic year, 2025-26 who would be leading this year’s all the curricular and co-curricular activities and work with the team effort and bring out new and challenging events with all the success.

It’s rightly said that ‘leaders are not born, they are made’. Year after year, it reminds us of the trust and confidence that we repose in our newly elected and selected students’ council members. To continue the legacy and to kindle the leadership qualities in our young prodigies the investiture ceremony was held on 28 June 2025 at JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali premises. Dr. Shanta Murthy B Kulkarni, Rtd. Principal & Governing council member of JSS B Ed College, Huvinahadagali was the chief guest of the ceremony. The ceremony began with the soothing and mesmerizing song by class VI & VII students. Miss Sinchana H of grade X welcomed the dignitaries on the dais. The ceremony advanced with the prime custom i.e. administering the oath and bestowing badges and sashes by the chief guest Mr. Shanta Murthy Kulkarni. Mr. Kulkarni administered the oath to all the prefectural council and also presented the badges. Donning the mantle of responsibility, they all pledge to dispense their duties to the best of their abilities and abide by rules and regulations of the Institution. Master. Rahul M M, sworn oath as School Captain. Dr. Shanta Murthy B Kulkarni addressed the gathering and shared his experience of being a leader in during his school days. He also threw light on the responsibilities of leaders and importance of school in nurturing the students. Mr. N Guruswamy in his presidential address threw light on the importance of leadership qualities in student’s life. He also stressed to abide by the school’s rules and regulations. He gave a call to serve their Alma Mater with utmost sincerity and to the best of their abilities. The newly elected Students’ Council marched forward to their respective houses, as it is said perfection is not attainable but when you chase perfection, you catch excellence. The zeal of the council was reflected in their confidence and dedication to execute their work. The Principal motivated the students and blessed them with his golden views which would help the students to make their vision clear for the achievement of their goal by performing their duties with full dedication.

78th Independence Day-2024

“Nationalism is inspired by the highest ideals of the human race, satyam [the truth], shivam [the god], sundaram [the beautiful]. Subhas Chandra Bose.”

India celebrated its 78th Independence Day on 15th August 2024. The day is marked with great pomp and enthusiasm to mark our freedom from British colonial rule in 1947. Every year, the Prime Minister hoists the national flag and addresses the citizens of the country from the ramparts of the Red Fort in the national capital. The day is marked by patriotic processions, cultural events, and flag-hoisting ceremonies in schools, colleges, government offices and other places to commemorate the occasion.

This year India Independence Day is celebrated with the theme of “Viksit Bharat” which means Developed India. This theme reflects the Indian government’s vision to transform the country into a developed nation by 2047, which will be the 100th anniversary of India’s independence. Leading into the Independence Day, the government is organising a “Har Gar Tiranga” campaign started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Around the nation, people celebrate Independence Day with great enthusiasm. The Prime Minister of India addresses the country at the major ceremony, which is held at Delhi’s Red Fort. The speech addresses the government’s future intentions, highlights its accomplishments, and encourages citizens to work towards building a more powerful and prosperous India.

Tejaswini R K of grade X. Later, Chief Guest addressed the gathering and recalled the sacrifices of great freedom fighters who led their lives for nation. He also shared his experiences during his service in Indian Army and the difficult situations faced by him and Indian Army during the winter season by the soldiers on the highest war field of the world i.e. Siachin Glaciers and the freezing cold (-50 degrees of temperature). Mr Umakanth urged about a sense of patriotism to be inculcated among the students as they are the future of India. Chief Guest was felicitated by Mr. N Guruswamy, principal, JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali and Dr. H P Ramesh, principal, JSS B Ed College, Huvinahadagali.  Many cultural activities were observed on this auspicious occasion like, Mellifluous patriotic songs were sung by the school choir and Ms. Sangeetha A H M, Music teacher. This was followed by patriotic dance programme presented by students of grade V to VII of our school.

Miss. Navya G of grade X, thanked everyone in her vote of thanks. The entire programme was anchored by Miss. Supriya B K and Miss. T Sahana   of grade X and the meaningful programme was concluded by distribution of sweets to one and all present on this occasion. World Environment Day is a global event aimed at raising awareness and encouraging action for the protection of our environment, led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and held annually since 1973, it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach. It is celebrated by millions of people across the world. It is celebrated on 5th June every year; the event aims to spread awareness around environmental issues like climate change, pollution, deforestation, and loss of biodiversity. Every year, a specific theme is chosen to shed light on a particular environmental concern, ranging from air pollution, plastic waste to energy conservation and sustainable consumption. The theme of the World Environment Day 2024 is ‘Land restoration, desertification and drought resilience and the slogan for the event was “Our Land, Our Future.

JSS Institutions, Huvinahadagli celebrated the World Environment Day on 15-06-2024, Saturday with the collaboration of Nisarga Balaga, Huvinahadagali with great pomp and enthusiasm in the school premises. The programme began after ‘call to order’ given by Mr. Rustum Nandihalli, Chairman, JAC Haveri. The formal function began with the invocation song sung by the school choir. Later, Mr. Mahabaleshwar, President, Nisarga Balaga, Huvinahadagali welcomed the dignitaries on the dais followed by introductory speech by Mr. Santosh, member, Nisarga Balaga, Huvinahadagali. Then, chairman addressed the gathering and mentioned about the importance of forest and its uses. He also stressed on deforestation which is in practice and gave a call to afforestation and let us gift the mother nature with greenery to the future generations. Various people who contributed much to save planet earth were facilitated on this occasion, and were awarded with various prizes like, “Huvinahadagali Nature Lover” was awarded to Mr. Girish Valmiki as “ Adavi Jangama”, Dr. Anand Kumar as “Parisara Premi”, Hasiru Yodha” to Mr. Mallikarjunswami, forest security guard, Hagaribommanahalli, “Udyaana Mitra” to Ranadappa, municipality worker, Hasiru Mitra” to N Manjunath, vetarniary, medical officer. Mr. N Guruswamy, principal, JSS Public School, Huvinahadagali and Dr. H P Ramesh, principal, JSS B Ed College Huvinahadagali were also facilitated on this occasion.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Mahantesh I S. Lastly, around 150 saplings were planted in the school and college campus. The entire program was anchored by Nandish Navali, member, Nisarga Balaga Huvinahadagali.
